Eventually I make it to match floral print with leather garments.For times I've been indulged in the antique and harsh texture of leather which acts as a contrast of the elegant and delightful floral print. These two elements, which I both adore, come together a kind of effortless-chic ensemble that is either vision flattering or physically wearable.Also I'm just gonna tell you that I'm heading off to THE MIDSUMMER STATION LIVE IN HONGKONG tomorrow which I've been so whole-heartedly longing for for a while that I can almost sense the the Silhouette of the Bombshell Blonde.

ETHEREAL MOMENTUM

It has always been some fashion reviewers chattering how London Fashion Week lets them down by complaining the endless use of prints. However, Mary Katrantzou did prove them wrong this time by providing us a spectacularly gorgeous collection. 

Despite the strong, stiff experimental shapes - often resembling deconstructed geisha costumes, with origami-like panels of printed material bound with industrial belts.It seems that Mary Katrantzou shifted away from the prints and color palette that have contributed to her meteoric rise, to a strong focus on shape and silhouette. Inspired by Edward Steichen's and Alfred Stieglitz's photographs, we can probably sense the impressionistic tone of their black and white photos. Katrantzou took full advantage of her remarkable techniques of pattern and cuttings to reengineer nature effectively. 

Not to mention more about the blossom-laden tree print with the midst moonlight, or the amazing Perforation technique of Zen scenery, Katrantzou's option for the architecture of asymmetry and contrast are the major events of this collection. A series of ethereal and slightly melancholic Origami dresses, a black mohair dress patterned with white woven lace evoking the graphic latticework of an iron bridge, a long black leather dress with cape sleeves embossed with graphics derived from a city scape print, intarsia knits glistening with iridescent prints, and a structured black jacquard suit with a shadowy pattern of trees. While less catchy than past seasons, the collection was impressive in its artisanal handiwork. It is clear Katrantzou is looking to strip back in order to evolve, but she has to be careful not to stray too far from her brand identity.

It's all 'bout enthusiasm when receiving the 3.1 Phillip Lim "Kiss V" inspired sweater since it's been an absolute attraction to me at the first sight, and without hesitation being out of stock almost everywhere at present!

The sweater is from 3.1 Phillip Lim Pre-fall 2012 "Neo-noir comics" collection, which featured jackets, t-shirts, and accessories with recognizable comic faces by Roy Lichtenstein and Andy Warhol.  Lim nicely shifted this literal interpretation into a very wearable collection of separates in black, white, and red with some mustard accent colors that don’t take ‘comic’ too seriously.

In this look, I try a pattern-on-pattern way to mix the those different elements together, conveying a retro sporty sense as well as interesting thought-provoking chic.I'm also gonna tell you guys that I got the inspiration of this look from Susie Lau (from Style Bubble) and Sandra Hagelstam (from 5 inch and up ,which has been my favs in the recent days)

Unfeignedly expressing my appreciation to Kat!

Maison Martin Margiela with H&M collection Lookbook

 The collection is all about the history of Margiela: All of the items are updated versions of Margiela’s unforgettable moments. The collection is available from November 15th and it sure does look good to me! One of the best collaboration collections.

Seeing the clothes, TianCouture posted, “Wow, hands down the best, and most interesting, H&M collection to date...”

Scott, a fan of Maison Martin Margiela under Margiela himself, had a lot to say. “I like that long patchwork silk dress (interpreted from one of my favorite collections, Spring 1992, in which he recycled silk head scarves from various periods) and one of Margiela's signature men's pieces, that waistcoat made of belts… Who is going to buy this?” he wondered. “It seems a little more niche and esoteric in spirit than the typical garb people gravitate toward at H&M. I mean, for the devoted original Margiela fans who never got to experience the earliest of his work, this will give a piece of that, if just in spirit. But I'll be curious if it ultimately creates the same kind of frenzy Comme des Garcons and the like have. But this kind of ticks me off though,” he continued. “This is NOTHING like what we're getting in any of the mainlines and it just questions if they can utilize the old spirit of Margiela in this context, why the flipping hell can they not bring a bit of that back into the primary maison?”

Why indeed? At least we have H&M to help resurrect that spirit for the moment.

Street Style: COMME on Des Garçons!

Those outta spacious pieces from the Fall/Winter 2012 collections are surly still fresh in our mind! Especially, the conceptually incredible collection of Comme Des Garçons.To think from a different angle, however,there was a time when I was wondering who was gonna wear those cutout paper-dolliness pieces on the streets?! You may say "It must be Lady GaGa of course!" The fact just goes like this, but not entirely right!As to my astonishment, the first celebrity to wear the pieces from the collections was Taylor Tomasi Hill at NY Fashion Week, choosing a blue graphic parse shorts matching with a easy chic shirt, which completely changed my perspectives on the collection—— dramatic pieces are not only dramatic but also can be so effortless as well! Then it came to more fashionistas like Anna Dello Russo, Hanne Gaby Odiele,and Michelle Elie wearing the outfits from the collection with their distinct style, COMME on Des Garçons!

Runway: Beehives Haute Couture: Alexander McQueen Spring 2013 RTW

Designers have found inspiration in stranger places than beehives, the contents of which gave Sarah Burton a direction for the Alexander McQueen Spring 2013 collection.

There were references to bees all over these clothes, from the beekeeper's hats the models wore down the runway to the honeycomb shaped lace Burton applied to those hats and a number of pieces in the collection. A number of garments — dresses, shirts, and jackets included — demonstrated a clever use of the wasp waist. When could it be more appropriate to revive this McQueen trope than in a collection inspired by bees?

Yes, the inspiration here came across literally, but the clothing certainly didn't suffer for it. Even the black and gold color palette that dominated the show came off as charming rather than thematic, especially in several suits made from a honeycomb jacquard. The final gowns here were dramatic as always, many of them accented by hoopskirts that were either layered on top or barely hidden by sheer fabrics or cloth flowers.

Runway: Unforgettable 80s: Jean Paul Gaultier Spring 2013

Gaultier's tribute to the 80s opened with Grace Jones, stepping straight off the Nightclubbing album cover in variations of the designer's tuxedo looks. Then came Hannelore Knuts as Annie Lennox in her "Sweet Dreams" incarnation, or, in actuality, a pinstriped Gaultier pantsuit. Next, Madonna, and that iconic cone bra attached to a black pencil skirt. So far, so true to Gaultier's own design sensibility. But when Karlie Kloss stepped out as Boy George, a meta disconnect kicked in and the show never really recovered as a coherent fashion statement. It continued to thrive, however, as an entertainment.

 There were some gorgeous and witty pieces—the Orientalism of a pleated A-line bustier gown, the trompe l'oeil printed denims, the black raffia sheath—but the fashion was subsumed by the concept. It peaked—or troughed—with the ABBA bit. Within seconds, Karlie Kloss was trolling the catwalk in a barely-there metallic blue outfit that unwittingly conveyed the notion of things falling apart. The Euro-disco legend Amanda Lear was the vedette of the finale. Her appearance thrilled the locals but left everyone else vaguely perplexed. In a way, a perfect metaphor for the collection: the familiar and the incomprehensible, meeting but not matching.
